I have just posted an outsourcing offer for developing an adapter for IB. Checkout https://www.getafreelancer.com/projects/C-C-Java/FIX-connectivity-Adapter-for.html .

I am not a coder & I needed this, so thought why not contribute to the community. Will need co-operation in specifying requirements and testing

Comments and flames welcome

Did anything ever come of this bid? I noticed its status is canceled.

I am also curious about the outcome. FWIW, I am available to do this and other customizations for Marketcetera. I am one of the original engineers.

Looks like we'll have an IB adapter available soon. Current plans are to open-source it if we can get approval from IB. Look for this later this summer.

I posted an IB market data adapter to the Open Labs a few months back. is there a reason it has not been released for everyone to use?

Just a matter of resource constraints. We actually have two IB adapters from outside contributors. Through no fault of the developers of each, both need to be updated to the current market data specs. We're planning on a big push of heretofore private work to the open-source space later this summer. At that time, one or both of the contributed IB adapters, updated commiserate with these changes, will be available, too. I appreciate the contributions and the patience.

Thanks for the response. I guess I do not fully understand though. the version I posted is compatable with the latest version available for download. since it is just "Lab" I don't fully understand why you would not let the open source community today look at/enhance it as new versions come out. I documented the project as asked. I just don't see the harm in letting the opensource community use what is there as nobody is warranting that any "Lab" version is production ready, or needs to be supported by Marketcetera staff. seems like there has not been a lot of movement for a while from Marketcetera. Why slow down even further whatever community envolvement there has been?

I would love nothing more to see Marketcetera become successful, but this all seems counter intuitive to it.

Thanks.

I understand. We have no objection at all. Feel free to use the IB adapter as-is with our warmest blessings. As an open-source company committed to maintaining a viable open-source product and also committed to making enough money to keep going, we sometimes have to choose between how to spend our limited resource dollars. And incorporating the IB feed into the source base does consume resources. We've developed a plan that incorporates the IB adapter in a big chunk of work that we're planning on pushing out to open-source later this summer.

ok perhaps there is a mis-understanding. I posted the IB adapter to Labs, but it is not visible to anyone, except myself. All I was asking was to make it visible for others to see it in LABS. you guys incorporating an open source IB adapter sounds great.

thanks.

I absolutely agree and understand. I want to do both. Making the IB adapter visible on LABS is fine, we're just resource-constrained. I know it seems trivial, but each one of these things takes time. We have a bias towards performing operations that yield revenue. When we run out of those , we do things that don't yield revenue. The approach with the IB adapter is, hopefully, a mix of both.

Hi eric

How do you hook up Photon to the code you posted, is there some automated process or do you have to manually transfer the files in which case what are the files to transfer as there are many? Sorry if this is a basic question but I'm new to this system.
