You may see the error message below in Photon Main Console and Photon is not able to connect to Marketcetera Exchange Simulator:

=====
ERROR main marketdata.marketcetera.MarketceteraFeed (?:?) - Unknown Message
org.marketcetera.marketdata.FeedException: The Marketcetera data feed did not start correctly.
=====

One of problems might be because of out-of-sync clock on the system running Photon and ORS. Marketcetera Exchange Simulator server requires to have the ORS be in sync.

To resolve the issue you can configure NTP or set your Windows system to automatically sync with an Internet time server. Try the steps below on Win XP Pro to set the time sync.
- Windows: Start -> Control-Panel -> Date and Time
- Click to select "Internet Time" tab
- Click to enable "automatically synchronize with an Internet time server"
- Select a server: from the list and click on "Update Now"
- Click "OK"

Restart Marketcetera Server Components as well as Photon.

If you are running in a Virtual Machine, uncheck "VMware Tools Properties", "Time Synchronisation between the virtual machine and the host operating system."

If your computer is a member of a domain, it will NOT have an Internet Time tab, as your time is synchronized from a domain source. In that situation what we have to do?

You may Google "NTP on Windows" and install a 3rd party NTP utility if allowed.

I Installed NTP, restarted the machine and tried connecting to marketfeed but with no luck. I checked the ORS log and the below line constantly repeating,

04 Mar 2009 15:37:02,061 INFO [QFJ Timer] quickfixj.event (?:?) - FIX.4.2:MKTC-ORS-CMD-EXEC->MRKTC-EXCH: Connection refused: no further information

Dont know what to do with this ?

Thanks
Pavithra

Please run "<METC install dir>:\tools\log_collector.bat" and email "marketcelera-logs-timestamp" directory (zip the directory first) to help@marketcetera.com with your Marketcetera username. I can take a look at the logs.

Thank you for sending us the logs. As I mentioned in the email, please make sure that your firewall is not blocking ports 7001, 7003, & 7004 to connect to our simulator:
