Hi, How can i link the characteristics of an account to the orders. For instance the trader AAA has 1000 shares of IBM and 2000 of YAHOO!. It means that she can not sell more than 1000 shares of IBM. Identically the trader is expected to put some credit on his account so that she can place buy orders.
How these links between account characteristics and trade can be set and made secure?
Thanks, Ababacar

It sounds like you'd like to have the system prevent you from making short sales? There's nothing out-of-the-box that would do this. You can pipe together a pair of strategies that can accomplish the same thing. The outputs of one strategy can feed into another that reads positions and measures the incoming orders against them.

There's nothing in our system that requires a certain amount of credit, in fact, we don't track cash balances as part of a position. In that respect, we don't function as a system-of-record out of the box. Again, you can manage this by stringing a pair of strategies together where one examines the orders of others and passes them on to the broker or doesn't based on arbitrary criteria. You'd have to manage the persistence of your account credit yourself.

Hi Colin, thanks. I am actually not trying to make the system safe from SS and other trade tips. I am only trying to finalize a complete trading platform. Traders have accounts linked to the shares they own and to the cash they have available for further operations. I miss the link between MARKETCETERA and such a management of the traders' account. The answer may sound obvious for some of you but I can’t figure out what trading module is used for that (like on the broker’s side?), and if so what open source could be use to implement this function.

Kind regards,
Ababacar

I'm not clear on what you're asking me. You want me to recommend other open-source software that will help you design a buy-side system? I don't know of any that will help, I think.
