photon plugin issues

Hi, I'm trying to persist my backtests and I really didn't get it working with the mysql driver. It doesn't appear by default for consume on photon.

The problem is that the mysql-connector jar is not built to use as a plugin fragment.

I follow these steps: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Create_and_Export_MySQL_JDBC_driver_bundle and create my custom jar as Colin explain here: http://www.marketcetera.org/community/posts/list/619.page

What's missing?

I'm attaching my jar.

On my strategy, I'm using:
userurl = "jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:8882/marketcetera"
connSelect = DriverManager.get_connection(userurl, "marketcetera", "marketcetera")

stmtSelect = connSelect.create_statement

# Define the query
selectquery = %q{SELECT * from execreports}

# Execute the query
rsS = stmtSelect.execute_query(selectquery)

# For each row returned do some stuff
while (rsS.next) do
puts rsS.getString "account"
end
but it's throwing:
java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver found for jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:8882/marketcetera
I really want to persist and I can't find a way to put mysql in a place that really appears the drive. Running on the terminal by strategy agent i believe it works, I've tested these code with pure jruby and runs ok.

Is there any special code on Manifest to work and allows it to use the driver?

Is there any other advise about persist the backtest.

Building 2.1.4

I was able to build 1.5 based on the instructions on the site. Since version 1.5 was released in 2009, I checked out the current trunk version to get a more recent starting point. I followed the same procedure as with 1.5 but used Eclipse 3.7.1 instead of 3.4.1. The project looks clean (no build errors -- just warnings) in Project Explorer. When I try to start Photon from Eclipse, I get an error message:
!ENTRY org.eclipse.equinox.app 0 0 2012-01-01 20:03:45.108
!MESSAGE Product org.marketcetera.photon.Photon could not be found.

!ENTRY org.eclipse.osgi 4 0 2012-01-01 20:03:45.127
!MESSAGE Application error
!STACK 1
java.lang.RuntimeException: No application id has been found.
...
See the attached file for the full log text. I also see an error generated by plugin org.eclipse.update.configurator:
eclipse.buildId=M20110909-1335
java.version=1.6.0_25
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86_64, WS=gtk, NL=en_US
Framework arguments: -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86_64 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product

Error
Sun Jan 01 20:10:21 EST 2012
Unable to find feature.xml in directory: /home/holger/workspaces/metc_trunk/marketcetera-platform/source/photon/features/.svn
Any idea what is causing it? Are there updated instructions for how to build the trunk version? What is the recommended environment to build the trunk version?

Thanks,

Holger

Does marketcetera cover FX trade?

hi,
I've read some old topics about FX trade.
I understand that i can use marketcetera for FX trade except for using Photon.
I want to use ORS and strategy agent for fx trade.
is my understanding correct?

http://www.marketcetera.org/community/posts/list/423.page#1401

Nominally, in its current form, the Marketcetera platform can currently trade FX. In fact, we have at least one customer in production that does so. However, FX is not an officially supported asset class yet which means that there are no specialized views in Photon for showing FX data, the PNL calculations don't make special allowances for FX (values in different currencies, etc), the market data framework doesn't formally support FX as an asset class making it difficult to request market data easily, and the order framework doesn't provide special support for FX meaning that all your outgoing orders will have to be constructed directly in FIX rather than using the built-in Strategy API tools.

error while building via MAVEN

Hi, I'm compiling following Jim Vallandingham instructions http://vallandingham.me/Marketcetera-on-Ubuntu.html about how to compile and build marketcetera on ubuntu.

I got the maven and java version as required:
jonatas@jonatax:~/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform$ mvn -v
Maven version: 2.0.9
Java version: 1.6.0_22
OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.38-13-generic" arch: "amd64" Family: "unix"
jonatas@jonatax:~/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_22"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.10.4) (6b22-1.10.4-0ubuntu1~11.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)
jonatas@jonatax:~/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform$
But, when I tried to install the version, the core compile without problem, but the client is broken. I think it's the spring version that needs to be updated.
/home/jonatas/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform/source/client/src/main/java/org/marketcetera/client/ClientImpl.java:[590,23] cannot access GenericApplicationContext
class file for GenericApplicationContext not found
SpringUtils.addStringBean(parentCtx, "brokerURL", //$NON-NLS-1$

/home/jonatas/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform/source/client/src/main/java/org/marketcetera/client/ClientImpl.java:[592,23] addStringBean(GenericApplicationContext,java.lang.String,java.lang.String) in org.marketcetera.util.spring.SpringUtils cannot be applied to (org.springframework.context.support.StaticApplicationContext,java.lang.String,java.lang.String)

/home/jonatas/marketcetera_workspace/marketcetera-platform/source/client/src/main/java/org/marketcetera/client/ClientImpl.java:[594,23] addStringBean(GenericApplicationContext,java.lang.String,java.lang.String) in org.marketcetera.util.spring.SpringUtils cannot be applied to (org.springframework.context.support.StaticApplicationContext,java.lang.String,java.lang.String)
I did'n change the configurations.
What's wrong?
